Toluene in Washington

I've been looking all around for over a year now, but still haven't managed to find a source of toluene anywhere in western Washington. Even products that contain enough toluene to distill are basically impossible to find. Has anyone in Washington found a source of toluene?

Having lived in western WA, I can safely say not really, no. There might've been a bottle on the shelf of a McLendon's once when I visited last spring, but I don't remember the details - it was next to the paint stripper and hydrochloric acid.

It seems like smaller hardware stores are more likely to have it than big box stores, around here anyway. I can't find it at Home Depot or Lowe's but Ace has it by the gallon.

I was in Seattle last summer and went to an Ace hardware there with Zephyr. I think they sold it there, but I can't remember for sure now since it wasn't what we were looking for.

Well, you can buy it just a few miles away in Oregon. Leastwise, you could a few years ago.

Gotta ask for it, and possibly sign. Though if you are clearly an adult, it might not be much of a problem.

Trying to prevent juveniles, and possibly Native Americans, from huffing themselves into oblivion.

Very bad shit to the huffers anyway. Lost a high school friend to it. Destroys your autonomic muscle control in the brain, think cerebellum.

Yeah, I've checked McLendons. Excellent source for all sorts of stuff like HCl, H2SO4, oxalic acid, and sodium hydroxide, but no toluene.

Depending on the purity and quantity you need, gasoline is a source of toluene that isn't likely to go away. It is also the primary ingredient in a number of 'injector cleaner' fuel additives.

For reference purposes a number of hardware stores carry toluol (not very pure toluene). But it is not carried in VOC restricted areas (mainly large cities).
