Chemistry Tree!

I have seen several chemists do Chemistry Tree's over the years and decided to finally do one myself!

If anyone else has done one (or does) perhaps we can get a thread going! I did a cursory UTFSE and didn't see one so...

I know I have been absent for quite a while but cancer surgeries and treatments have kept my lab in dust for a long time

Nice :P I don't have enough clamps/ring stand stuff to make one successfully :)

If anyone is curious I used phenolphthalein with different base PH's (Pink and Red), Potassium permanganate (Purple), Zinc Chloride (Blue), Copper Sulfate (Copper blue), and plain food coloring for the bright green. (I didn't want to waste anymore reagents!

j_sum, I'm guessing you mean the link to go to the picture you posted recently of a Chemistree? If so, the link is still going to the wrong spot, navigating to page 4 instead of 7.

Here's the link to that post.

I think I will set one up today in the classroom at my school that I work in. I would make one at home but I don't have enough clamps. Perhaps I could borrow a few.

These are very cool.
I would like to set one up too, but instead of just fluorescents I would like to use a small quantity of substituted (trichlorinated) phenyloxalate ester with different fluorescents in every flask.
That would be cool!

I made a Chemistree earlier today with the assistance of a few AP chemistry students who I share the classroom with! Here's a couple different angles of it:

Sorry to disappoint, but the colors are just food coloring for all of them. I wasn't able to access the chemical storeroom today, and had less than an hour to put the whole thing together anyway. Regardless, I'm very pleased with how it turned out. :)
I am debating about possibly changing the TNT "star" on top to angelic acid. ;)

Very nice! My room already has one, elsewise I'd definitely ask (and probably get) permission to make one.

A fellow Aussie chemist and I have come up with an "upgrade" for the Chemistree. I'm not going to say what it is because it would have to be tested and filmed first . Won't be done until we get together early next year though...

I only have two clamps and one ring stand. So my chemistry tree won't look like a tree at all.

Some beautiful Chemistrees!

To those who feel that Christmas trees, including Chemistrees , are politically incorrect, I invite you to spell out "Happy Holidays" with your lab ware!:D

Indeed some nice trees! I say keep the TNT, zts16. Also, congrats on the super-mod, how long has that been a thing?
