Dry I2
OK I've seen a bunch of people who are having trouble drying iodine and I came to the solution that iodine should be produced in a way that involves
no water. So I tried just that.
Materials
1.9g NaIO3
3.8g Na2S2O5
(100mL) beaker
Hot plate or other heating device
RB flask with water in it
Setup
I placed the NaIO3 and Na2S2O5 together in the beaker which was on the hot plate. The RB flask was placed on top of the beaker to condense the I2.

Procedure
Step 1 Heat the sh*t out of it. (I set my hot plate to max (280))
The iodine will, eventualy, start being evolved incredabley fast (the majority of the I2 evolution took place in a time of around 5 seconds) It was
one of the most amazing (and beautiful) reactions I’ve ever seen and I could get it one film if you people want.

Yield
I obtained a rather low yield of .3g (but seeing that unique iodine sublimation (much faster than the usual) made up for it

Celebration of being an international hazard!
EDIT crap I have no Idea how to make the pictures work (fail)

Use the img tag and place a link to a sufficiently small image inside it.
This is a cool prep, but aren't iodates quite hard to find? I don't know of any routes that will convert iodides to iodates off the top of my head.

Yeah it is hard to find iodates, but I had some on hand. I can make a method that uses iodides instead of iodates if you're interested.

As it turns out I don't have any KI so I can only say that you best bet woul be KI,
NaHSO4, an MnO2 or KMnO4. I'll post a writeup if I get some KI soon.
