Potassium permanganate solution stability


Hi,

when I make a solution of KMnO4, technical grade stuff with some MnO2 included, and tap water, how long does it take for my solution's concentration to become noticably lower?

That would depend on many factors. But from what I read, MnO2 is the enemy of KMnO4 solutions: they degrade quicker in the presence of Mn(IV), allegedly...

Any Idea how quick degradation will take to significantly lower the available KMnO4 in solution?
