Hello, beginner looking for advice!

Sorry but you picked the wrong forum to ask these type of questions about blowing "stuff" up.

Well since this thread is dead ..... I am going to try and salvage it.
I am having a tough time finding chemical delay compositions.
The kind one would find in a flashbang fuse assembly.
From what I understand it needs to put out minimal amount of gas as it is going to be confined in a tube.
Any suggestions ?

They do that sometimes. It's annoying, because now we have to send this to Detritus (although we were likely to anyway). This thread is now too impaired to be relevant to anything.

He was asking how to make stable high explosives that could be initiated with a 3 watt laser or fuse for blowing stuff up.

Thank you all for the well wishes.
But let's see if we can salvage this thread ....
In regards to my original post that I edited.

Might as well make use of this thread with a question:

So, as far as noise/sound, what is the difference between 5g flashpowder in cardboard tube and 5g ETN in cardboard tube in a pressed state, not melted to max density. Assuming a full detonation. I know ETN explodes with much more speed, but does this always translate to louder explosion? I know there are different kinds of noise, sound that travels farther and whatnot, but I think it is interesting, I would be interested in seeing 5g of ETN detonate next to 5g FP, and then up to 25 grams of ETN and 25g FP side by side, not at the same time aubviously...

yes golfpro..
more energy = more energy as sound
thats why blackpowder is shit for salutes also..

anyways you cannot make a ''stable'' explosive that can be initiated with as little as 3 mW laser, if it can get ignited by that then its unstable AF (:

Because many of you are only 13 or 14 years of age, and are afraid that your mothers will discover your forum accounts and scold you for your choice of wording. Some of us refrain from swearing, because we try to maintain a certain level of decorum and amateur-professionalism (How's that for an oxymoron!?), which lends this forum and/or our bullshit speculation a bit more credibility. When's the last time you saw "lol", "IIRC", or "asshat" printed in Nature or JACS?

Like gunpowder but chlorate burns pretty slow. Maybe press it?

Too much gas. When confined .... burn rate goes dramatically up.
Just like dried toilet paper saturated with KNO3.

I don't know what kind of time delay you need but strontium nitrate works really well for making slow fuse, it is what I use for delay in my mortar shells. The only demo I have made so far is a piece of paper soaked then dried in it. Here: Strontium Nitrate Paper. You can even use the mix of Sr(NO3)2+KClO4 straight from an emergency roadside flare once you filter out the insoluble stuff, I have a video on that as well somewhere on my channel.

My tiny cannon I made used to run on Chlorate, and it didn't burn fast enough! Just sort of 'shhhhhh' for about 2 seconds. Sensitised with a tiny amount of RedP it is more like actual black powder.

If I need a delay, I just use a layer of star composition. That mix is designed to burn not deflagrate like BP does. I made the mistake of adding too much in a 1/2" rocket and it ended up nose down in the ground before the report went off. Live and learn I always say.

for delay you can use rocket candy, but you wanna coat the tip of this with something more senstive to heat (perhaps rocket candy: golden powder 1:1 by volume)

if you use 19.5 KNO3 7.5 Sucrose 3 Sirup by weight
at one point during heating of this +100*C when it cools down you will realise its still relatively soft, meaning it will be quite easy to press to fit tubes of any kind more than just easily..
you could put a little hole in this and add RC/GP mix, that should make a brilliant delay composition..
adding iron oxide will also further sentisize the RC plus it will burn abit faster
