How are blood hormone levels tested?

And other stuff like cholesterol.

Can it be done at home?

There are a lot of methods for that.

For example:
Making a coordination complex with the hormones and determining how much complex is formed (with the spectrophotometer).

Or using antibody's from animals for the detection of the pregnancy hormone hCG (agglutination test).
Here a pdf about testing cholestrol:

Whether it is possible to do it at home depends on the test you want to do.

Thanks, I'll check this PDF out. Always wondered about it but never found the procedure.
