MEDINA (Methylene dinitroamine)


i read on wikipedia in the R.E. factor examples chart about explosive called Methylene dinitroamine and his R.E. is 1.93 and seems like one of the strongests explosive ever exist.somebody can give me information about it? i can't find anything on that in google.

One of those cursed explosives that require Ac2O. I think mixture of RDX in fuming nitric will have similar energy and better density.

I think it can also be made using acetamide as the precursor, in which case a normal mixed H2SO4/HNO3 acid nitration can be used. The acetyl groups can then be hydrolyzed off with ammonia. This route was mentioned in E+W forum.

US 2449843 describes an explosive substance that can be made by nitrating the condensation product of acetamide and formaldehyde. Although I think they misidentified the resulting product, it does show that mixed acids can be used to form a nitramine from this substance.
