Unusual Organic Peroxides
I was wondering if anyone can comment on the more unusual organic peroxides?
I have experimented with all of the common ones and some of the more uncommon ones (THF peroxide and Cyclohexanone peroxide, for instance). They're
all more or less the same unfortunately. MEKP is probably the most interesting of them, actually, and that's only because it's not a solid.
Cyclohexanone sounded cool when I started it but it produced such huge crystals I was afraid to handle it at all. Turned out to be soluble in acetone
so that solved my problem of giant crystals (at their largest they were >2cm long and .375cm wide!!).
Anyway I'm currently experimenting with peracetic and trichloroperacetic acids and salts thereof. Starting with peracetic acid and it's salt now and
once I have enough trichloroacetic acid I'll give that one a go.
Has anyone experimented with either of these or their salts?
They all seem to be known compounds, but I can't find any information about them aside from one synthesis paper from the 50's.
