Acetone
If you are looking for reagent grade acetone (99%+) then you will need to purchase the solvent from a scientific supplier.
I would not have thought that such a widely used solvent could be so difficult to find, although, I have never been to Italy...
If you do not have 'access' to a chemical outlet, then i suggest that you start looking in hardware stores. If acetone isnt on the shelf,
then ask them to order you some, because it really is a common, unsuspicious solvent. However, OTC acetone can usually contains a significant amount
of water, as you have found out.
You could remove most of the water molecules if you dried the acetone with MgSO4, or another suitable drying agent.
