Forum needs subscript and superscript tags
Since this is a chemistry forum there should really be BBCode tags for subscript and superscript so people can write equations and formulae properly.

Use HTML i.e. use '<' instead of '[' for superscript/subscript
sample:
AAAAAA
D'OH!! I typed HTTP when I meant HTML!!!

What he typed would look like this:
Code: |
AAAAAA
|
where subscripts are "sub" and superscripts are "sup".

I mentioned similar things years ago, but administrators seem to be deaf and blind.
Other forums have friendly panel with sub- and pub- scripts.
You click "2" button on this panel and you have directly "2" in you post. The same with Greek alphabet, degree symbol, etc.
Here we have only panel with stupid "smiles"

If it's that hard for you to type sub /sub then maybe you should take some typing classes KMnO4.

Forum admins aren't PHP folk, hacking the code and then propagating those hacks into new versions of the software may be a bit more than they wish to
undertake.
Having learned HTML back in the days of Web-0.96.44.1.c I just struggle by with the pointy brackets. One could copy/past entries and use an external
HTML editor; but doing the HTML codes yourself likely helps fight off Alzheimer's (along with quitting smoking and walking instead of driving 3 block
to get beer.)

It could look like this (copied from local forum)
Very useful , but impossible to do in THIS forum. Such a shame.

You could do this with 4 clicks and sub- or sup- with 1 click of mouse, not knowing any coding.
No HTML , ASCII, Unicode. Simple and practical.
Typing HTML code here is pure masochism.
Try to write correcly any longer equation:
K2Cr2O7 + H2SO4 + C2H5OH -> .....
How much time does it take ?? It is completely impractical.
Edit:
I do not understand you posts, what are you trying to show ?
That writing symbols is possible ? Question is not "if" but "how".

Well, you
likely do have a Greek keyboard. For the rest of the world, we have to make do with "HTML entities", written with an initial ampersand,
"Γ" --> Γ. Thusly: Α Β Γ Δ Ε Ζ Η Θ
Ι Κ ... While it looks the same, there are no special characters required.
