Thermal Decomposition
I know many of you are tired of chlorate and perchlorate posts but please here me out. Recently i have found information that says that you can
convert pure chlorate to perchlorate and chloride by just heating the chlorate above its melting temp for a few hours. I was wondering if anyone has
ever tried such a procedure and if you have how did you keep a stable temperature. Any insight will be appreciated and once again I apologize for
bringing such run down topic back up.

Yes! It is a well known procedure described in many chemistry textbooks.
You will find many references to the procedure in this forum. Use Google to search www.sciencemadness.org for (chlorate perchlorate decomposition).

Basically the method is innefficient and non-stoichiometric, and quite frankly scares the shit out of me...
