Help with bursting flasks-overpressure,bad mainteinance or bad qualtiy

I keep using my pressurzed flasks or other containers to store gases when I am heating them. They are of pyrex and I take good care of them, but they keep breaking or bursting! Can anyone help me with it?

You are exceeding the pressure ratings of the glass.....scale up to borosilicate glass and will hold up to 60 psi....as used in hydrogenating vessels......solo

Maybe if you heat more slowly with a bath or shield
this will help.

At any rate the pressure rating of a 500ml Pyrex round
boiling flask is something like 40-45PSI as near as I can figure.

Joe has run new unblemished ones at 45PSI at less than 100
deg doing an hydrogenation. The hard part is wiring the glass
stopper securely.

Corning or Kimble don't give pressure ratings except on tubing.

I wonder how much more the heavy wall boiling flasks hold
pressure wise compared to the standard wall.

If you look at the Kimble/Kimax pressure versus wall thickness
nomograph it gives some idea even though it is for tubing only.

Solo .....have you used or tested standard round bottom
boiling flasks at 60PSI?
