I've seen the higher oxide of nickel written as Ni(III) oxide peroxide and as Ni(IV) oxide from many creditable sources. Does anyone know what it
REALLY is? Its really confusing.
NiOOH exists, and is mostlt Ni(III). Depending on how you make it and further treatment, you can have average valencies of 2,5 to 3,5; if you really
work at it you can get close to NiO2 Ni(IV). Plus there is Ni(II)O2 - nickel peroxide.
