Radiation detector test sources.
Hello good people of sm. I'm working on a big project, and in need of some funds. So I'm selling small Geiger/Scintillation counter, or ionisation
chamber test sources. They're also be great in element collections, or for lecture or teaching pieces. I've got a few different sources. If anyone's
interesting you can drop me a U2U.

This sounds really interesting. Do you have some pictures you can show?
I am wondering if this thread might be better suited to the radiochemistry forum. I'll let it sit here for a bit but if a good technical conversation
starts then a move might be in order.

I think I can send pictures to anyone interested. Thanks for taking notice!

I would but I'm not overly computer-savvy. It has the option to add an image via URL. But how can I add an image from, say, photos? Any help would be
appreciated.

Easy.
Click the <preview post> button after typing a message. This opens up a space where you can upload files including pictures into your posts.
There are some size restrictions but they are not too tricky.
If you want to put the pictures somewhere other than the end of the post, click <prieview post> again and you wil get the option of editing the
order a bit.

Ok, I'll do it tomorrow (it's late). Should I start a new thread with them in it (due to all the messages at the start of this one), or just upload
them to this one? Thank for your patience, by the way.

Just upload them here.

Cool. I'm always interested in stuff like this. I've got all sorts of random minerals, glass and crockery. I did spend a bit, though, and get the
certified 133Ba, 137Cs, and 60Co sources from Spectrum Techniques for calibration (Ludlum 44-10 with a Gamma Spectacular GS-110 Pro, 1X1.25 Bicron
scint., and several handheld meters).

There's the one of the mantles. I can't get an image of the ore up, but it's granular.

Where I work we repair radiation alarms for nuclear installations,
each detector has a similar thorium mantle built into it,
to set a fixed, but non-zero reference, to prevent false zero/safe readings.
A very good use of thorium mantles,
which is one of the few radioactive sources allowed to be posted by Royal Mail.
