Unwanted detritus
I assume all the phenylacetone posts are from the same user under names? I also assume there is no way to ban IP addresses instead of user names? That
would be handy for repeated knobbery like this.

As far as we can tell, yes, it's the same person with numerous accounts.
IP bans are quite easy to set up but, unfortunately, it's even easier for a troll to mask their IP, so that only has a limited impact. The only way
to effectively deal with them is via manual intervention.

I can't tell if this guy is a troll, or just has the memory of a goldfish:

The first step in the process of learning something is admitting that you don't know it already.
I'm givin' the spam shields max power at full warp, but they just dinna have the power! We're gonna have to evacuate to new forum software!

There are many here who are the same - maybe just one with many many many accounts.
Basically they tend to say the same kind of things with a very similar M.O. and it seems they just want attention, of any nature.
No point in trying to identify them as they just use another account.
I thought it a good idea to root 'em out, and failed.
Spent lots of time ranting, analysing, coming up with algorithms, programming, and all for nothing.
It is very very hard to tell the Sane from the Insane in the arena of Science.
Just have to live with it - simply accept that we have some termites here.
The Best solution so far is for people to recognise this fact and Not Feed Trolls.
I believe this has been said before, at least once.

let's not go back to the days of aga witch hunt tactics...
It's a game of whack-a-mole, sure, but that's why we're here.

The Efnet blacklist will stop all but the most powerful trolls. Not being a troll myself, I know how to get around it, but I had to hunt down a true
Baphomet and leave it under the bridge with an oak stake through its heart to learn those secrets lololol
