Pd/C from Merck

Is this Pd/C catalyst from Merck suitable for CTH reactions with ammonium or potassium formate as hydrogen donor? I mean reactions like reduction of
nitroalkanes to amines for example!
I ask because on the Product-Info page of Merck (the upper link) they say "Palladium/charcoal activated (10% Pd) hydrogenation catalyst (oxidic
form)". Note the "oxidic form". Is this unusual for a Pd/C catalyst that is used in CTH reactions?
I always thought that the Palladium on Pd/C is in metallic form!?

It's probably OK but I'm not an expert.. afaik there's only one type of Pd/C. Maybe they have pre-oxidised this stuff so that it doesn't need to be
kept under ether?
In which case.. you'll need to reduce it before use. They mention something like that here:
