There seem to be some pretty good deals among this guy's listings, probably because the way he titles his auctions, nobody can find them:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/Lab-Glassware/11812/m.html?_nkw=&...

If you look really close at the photos, you can see it's all name brand borosilicate glass, including a lot of 14/20 taper stuff.

Nice find! Super goofy that a pile of burettes, condensers, and columns are "vintage beakers" ... I had a nice chuckle.

To some sellers, all labware items are bottles.

Really, that seems to be pretty close to what shipping a large box of laboratory glassware would actually cost. I'm in the US (New York), and everything seems to cost between $15 and $20 for shipping, which is about what I paid for shipping from Dr. Bob. I think he just sets the shipping cost to his actual shipping cost, then starts the bidding at $1, since he doesn't seem to have any idea what it's worth.

"Does not ship to Australia."

I have only just started browsing but the one I thought was funny was this one:

It even says, "boiling flask". But nope: "beaker"!

What puzzles me, is first, he tries to fit the word "beakers" into each auction title at least three times. Sometimes, he can't fit the third one in, in which case it becomes "bea" or "beak". Is he pasting them in from somewhere else, or what? And second, he called a few things, like the mortars, by their actual name, not "beakers", but then there's this:

Like, those are just vials. Or "jars", if your vocabulary is limited. They don't even look very useful for chemistry, since they're clear plastic (ie, not polyethylene or polypropylene or PTFE) and likely to be polystyrene which is dissolved by practically every organic solvent that isn't an alcohol. But nope, those are beakers too!

Some of those kits have angle shaped connectors with female tapered glass fittings. The end is closed. What was the intended use for those?

I think that might be the sublimation chamber for the cold finger condenser.

It doesn't seem like excessive shipping. And plus, some are great deals even with shipping. I might buy some. :o

I believe this item is a glass blowing torch:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-NATIONAL-TYPE-3A-BLOW-PIPE-W...

Those are not cheap, so if anyone wants to do glass blowing, it might be a great deal.

And it went for $11.50 USD. A good score. It was going to cost me an additional $46 in postage so I didn't bid.

$ 22.49 including shipping is not bad. Thanks Dr.Bob. It comes with the oxygen regulator and an unused hose barb, valve, for fuel gas.

I doubt it could have found a much better home.
I'm really glad I didn't bid and drive the price up. :)
