Is this nitrophenol or picric acid?
So I wanted to make p nitrophenol because I got bored. So I extracted ASA from aspirin, hydrolized it to salycilic acid, decarboxilated it to phenol,
and then I mixed together some nitric and sulfuric acid as well as water. Then I dissolved the phenol in water and slowly poured it in the acids in an
ice bath. Now I need to steam distill it but I am worried the reaction nitrated it too far. Here is a picture of what I want to steam distill:

Update: I distilled the mixture for about 2 minutes. The distillate has some solid appearing, but it doesn't seem to be my expected o- nitrophenol.

To make p-nitrophenol it is only necessary to use nitric acid (see Brewster for a procedure, forum library). Why not follow an established
procedure?
This procedure may help you determine what you have made.
The single most important condition for a successful synthesis is good mixing - Nicodem

I am following Nile reds procedure. I am not familiar with this website, so I will try to find brewsters procedure.
