oxydation of alcohol to carboxylic acid with permanganate

hi
i was wondering if oxydating an alcohol with potassium permanganate is low yielding its in some way because some of it is loosed because of too much oxydation,

but if we perform an oxydation of ethanol to acetic acid with potassium permanganate we might get a better yield. ?
