what does SWIX mean?
Does SWIX mean"someone who isn't "anyone?"
We don't allow SWIM here. With good reason; if you can't claim it you shouldn't post it on sci-mad. This is NOT a drug discussion forum. I ran into
"SWIX" reading about chloral hydrate, a useful reagent. Let's not permit "SWIX" either. I wonder whether this post should have been routed to the
chloral hydrate thread; Nicodem? Bert?

@zts16: No need to move this to detritus. The question makes sense.
The use of acronyms like SWIM (Someone Who Isn't Me), SWIX (??), SWIK (Someone Whom I Know) at one time was quite common and was nearly always
associated with drugs-related posts. On sciencemadness the use of these acronyms is strongly frowned upon. A forum full of SWIM et. al. does not look
good at all.
I move this to forum matters for further discussion.

I'm a new member here but I would frown upon the use of such acronyms for the same reason.
Besides, SWVHIHP (Someone who vaporized himself into hot plasma) or SWBBHA (Someone who blew up both his arms) arent likely to post anything

I dunno. A clever acronym can embed itself into the culture of a forum and be quite fun.
FWIW, I laughed at SWVHIHP. I stopped laughing at SWBUBHA. Might be something to do with this thread.

I apologize if I offended anyone with my attempted humor.
You're right to "tell me off". Actually, that was pretty dumb of me on several accounts:
- I've known several people with disabilities who were still able to use a computer and contribute positively.
- As you and Hissingnoise point out through this thread there are important lessons to be learned from one's mistake, especially if they are willing
and still able to share. Probably more important than commenting on "I finally got my synthesis right"
Sorry again if I offended anyone. Except SWIK, SWIM, SWIX, my Cat and some others

SWVHIHP.
Should I be reading in the technochemistry forum more regularly?
Rapopart’s Rules for critical commentary:
1. Attempt to re-express your target’s position so clearly, vividly and fairly that your target says: “Thanks, I wish I’d thought of putting it
that way.”
2. List any points of agreement (especially if they are not matters of general or widespread agreement).
3. Mention anything you have learned from your target.
4. Only then are you permitted to say so much as a word of rebuttal or criticism.
