Perchloric acid without electrolysis?
Are there any other ways of making perchlorate salt without involving current? The only method of producing perchloric acid that i read without using
current is the decomposition of chloric acid. However does it have any truth to it?

NH4ClO4 is readily available on ebay . . .
The thermal disproportionation of HClO3 to HClO4 is very inefficient.

And the methods of preparing chlorates without electrolysis are inefficient, too (tried to prepare Berthollet's salt through hypochlorite
disproportionation, now, wasn't that a disappointment?)
Smells like ammonia....

perchloric acid preparation
I recently posted to prepchem.com the method outlined in Horace C. Adams 1925 using nitric and hydrochloric acid. It works well and is far less
expensive that purchasing perchloric acid.
The procedure is straight forward but should not be done without a proper fume hood and safety gear.
