Homemade distillation setup < 100$
I know there's a lot of ppl here who can appreciate the ingenuity of this guy's designs:

Not suitable for every application, but extremely interesting nonetheless. Goes through building a jacket cooled condenser and all.

For destilling alcohol or hydrocarbons it might work, but if you like to destill some other stuff, even if the ethanol contains some acetic acid, your
copper destillation setup will stain. And if it has begun to stain you will have to flush the whole apperatus, this won't be easy if the thing is not
dissassembable or you have to accept this green/blue colour in each destillate. At the time I'didn't had any glassware I also used a liebig made of two aluminum tubes, the thing was soo crappy, at some aerias the oxide layer
broke and the the destill had a leak, it was the point I decided to buy some glassware.
For some inorganic applications it might be OK, destillation of HF for exaple, but I would never mess with such a apparatus in an organic synthesis
if not too expensive glassware are available. So save the $$$ and buy some glassware if you have to.

Cu kettles are ok for booze because booze isnt really that corrosive. Most of the chemicals we like to use are however.
Still though, a nice way to prepare high % EtOH and such
Thx for the link

I think Organikum presented a similar setup some time ago, but I can't find it anymore. Maybe someone else remembers where that thread is hidden?
