hexadehydro Diels-Alder reaction
I was invited to the cities for a dinner awards ceremony hosted by ACS for the Olympiad finalists in MN. Tom Hoye is going to be the speaker there.
Hoye has done a lot of work on a reaction called the hexadehydro Diels-Alder reaction. I know the Diels-Alder reaction, but I have never heard of the
hexadehydro Diels-Alder reaction. I did a quick google search but the only things I found were journals which you had to pay for. Has anyone had any
work with this reaction, or better yet know enough about it that they could explain it to me?

Wait . . . I'm going to that ceremony too! I have read Professor Hoye's work, and know someone who works in his lab.
In short, the hexadehydro Diels-Alder reaction is the reaction of a diyne and a diynophile to form a benzyne. The benzyne is reactive and often
performs another reaction afterwards.
