Common Synthesis Of Nitric Acid And Nitrous Acid
The most common way to make nitric acid is by distillation of H2SO4 and a nitrate salt. This can contaminate your acid with NO2 but can be removed
with the addition of Al metal.
Nitrus acid can be made with a nitrite salt and a acid, a blue solution is formed apron addition.
Another way to make to my knowledge is by bubbling NO3 in water or hydrogen peroxide. I would like to know if there is a safer or more effective way
to make it. Like by electrolysis of a nitrate salt like potassium nitrate. Nitric acid is a harder acid to make but well worth it. Thanks for all the
help. Purity and Con. is key right?

Nitrous Acid only exists in solution, distillation would decompose it into nitrogen dioxide, nitric oxide, and water.

Is there any way to concentrate it?

It would be hard to purify.
Here are some papers: http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/ja02216a004

One idea is to use either barium or calcium nitrite, and SLOWLY add sulfuric acid in an ice bath. The barium or calcium sulfate should precipitate.
If you use the barium nitrate, you will need more water to dissolve it.
This must be kept cold because nitrous acid only exists in a cold solution.

CO2 can be bubbled through your adulterated distillate to remove most of the NOx produced from the decomposition of nitrous acid under normal
conditions.
