Flash Powder with KNO3

I have alot of KNO3, and want to make a very fast burning flash powder.
I have Mg powder, Al powder, Sulfer, sugar, fuses, and a scale.
I do not have KClO3/KClO4, the olny oxidiser I have is KNO3.

PS. I don't have much Mg/Al powder.

KNO3 and Magnesium burn very fast, and I dont think you can use it as a fuse. I've tried it before. The ratio of KNO3/Mg could be 1:1 or 3:2. 1:1 will get you a bright sparks, and 3:2 is more powerful.

I suggest you to make very little, few grams, when you try it.

Nitrate salts with aluminum powder is much harder to ignite, and burn much worse than nitrate with magnesium.

I would not have used it as a fuse, as stated earlier I have fuses.
Is it as good as Al+KClO4?

Yes you can try that, I tried it also, aluminum generally tend to react less violent than magnesium. When a metal reaches its boiling point, or near that, it will react, you can see aluminum's boiling point is much higher than magnesium's, which is why magnesium can react easier, however aluminum burns more exothermic.

I don't have KClO4, I just wanted a comparison, I've used Al+KClO4, but ran out of KClO4:mad:, now that I have KNO3, I wanted to know if I can make a flash powder as good as Al+KClO4.

As I said KNO3 would make a very nice spark with Magnesium powder, maybe better than KP+Al.
