The ScienceMadness Appreciation Thread
Many wonderful members have been slaving away everyday with almost no reward.
It's time we rewarded them by showing them our appreciation in this thread!
Everyone shout out the names of members on sciencemadness that you love for any reason. Doesn't matter if they're already mentioned, the more we shout
out the more we show just how important these people are to us.
I'll go first.
Woelen - Who DOESN'T like this guy? He's pure awesome in a human shaped can. His discussions, his mod duties and his videos have all been thoughtful
and insightful.
UnintentionalChaos - I watch his videos on youtube a lot and that's where REAL CHEMISTRY is done. Not this pathetic glow stick stuff NurdRage puts
out.
Xenoid and IrC - I have not seen more dedicate people to electrochemistry EVAR!
.... Sorry only four people come to mind for me. But i'm sure i'll shout out more as i'm reminded of others!
So everyone, show your appreciation for all the awesome members that have made your stay at sciencemadness worthwhile.

ScienceSquirrel, Nicodem and woelen - I look through the Detritus threads pretty often, and you guys always manage to make me laugh. Also, you're
great at moderating!
blogfast25 - Helps me out a *lot* when I'm stuck or ticked off at some synthesis or other, and seems to have infinite patience.
elementcollector1 - come to think of it, he's pretty useless. I wonder why he's still on this board...
plante199 - Also very helpful, and works hard on his things.
Gah, I can't think of any more. There are of course IrC and UC, but they've already been mentioned - not that more praise isn't deserved for their
respective works, but what could I say that hasn't been said?

I don't always keep up on threads here, but I've particularly enjoyed woelen's work in the past–especially that to do with copper.
[edit]
How could I have almost forggoten Magpie!? Check out his pre-publication threads.

work on the actual post.

I want to appreciate a lot of people here, the list is quite long. Somewhere near the top are Solo, gsd, Nicodem and the others with good library
access who selflessly donate their time in the references area.

Me, or the other "Hex"?
Personally, I have to thank woelen, Nicodem, kristofvagyok, peach, and many others I forget ATM, but with a special mention to DJF90 for his inifinite
patience and the sheer quantity I have learnt from him in a relatively short space of time.

Two members I really miss:
not_important and quicksilver. I have no idea what happened to either. Quicksilver was even a moderator (still is, if he ever comes back). I fear bad
things when such long-term frequent contributors vanish suddenly.

it's not_important really. One's actions speak louder than words. If you occasionally help those less fortunate out with whatever, expensive
equipment, some hard to come by information, and you don't ask for a thanks in return, then you are behaving in a truly altruistic way. I HATE naming
names, it's childish, so I refuse to name names. But all or most of the mods fit this category. Also, members who have unique experience, and are
willing to share. The "UTFSE" is one of the most childish, overused expressions here. It is not our job to be teachers, and force members to think
for themselves, However, when it comes to drug chemistry, UTFSE is 100% appropriate. Anyone coming in and asking how to synth meth, or an obvious
analog, can just go to hell. Not only is it the simplest thing to make from practically anything, but it also gives our board an um-deserved smear.
ScienceMadness is a very classy site, so if you want to make meth, this is not the site for you.

Agreed. I try to provide helpful replies while directing towards resources. UTFSE doesn't help anyone -- especially with the notoriously bad search
engines forums have built in.
A whole lot of life is about repetition. The sooner you get used to it, the happier you will be.
If you think you've explained a subject once, you're wrong. If you've done it three times in three different ways, now you stand some chance of
actually being understood.
Likewise, if you're reading something, read it three times, concentrating on different aspects of it. Only then, shoot off a reply for clarification.

I don't want to actually list names as such a list will inevitably be imcomplete and people may feel left out. "you know who you are": thanks!

I miss Peach too, hope he is OK
Nicodem does a lot of repetitive work telling people to post references and keeping everyone straight.
Nurdrage! I met him briefly in real life (name dropping I know...)
Of course all the great Canadian and Toronto members I have talked to, even if only short term
