Formaldehyde from hexamine

I can't find any information on converting hexamine into formaldehyde. I read that an acid is needed but thats all I know. I've seen HCl be mentioned, if I add an equimolar quantity of 20% HCl solution to hexamine, will I end up with formaldehyde and NH4Cl? Will the formaldehyde be hard to seperate from the aqueous NH4Cl?

What about concentrated H2SO4?
