Toluene oxidation using ammonium persulfate to benzaldehyde

I have read mention of an oxidation of toluene using persulfate salts to achieved benzaldehyde, but cant find any patents or writeups for this procedure. Anyone got any experience or knowledge of this?

Never ever use the phrase "I have read ..." without providing the reference! Regardless of what you think, this is a science forum after all.

PS: Please open referenceless threads only in the Beginnings section where I'm moving this.

I gave no references due to the fact that I can find none. Beyond speculation, or detail devoid mention of the process by various chemists, dreamers, and bees. And its all mentioned in passing. It was actually MENTIONED on a thread here https://www.sciencemadness.org/whisper/viewthread.php?tid=29...
