Change in post editing
I have edited the XMB software, using code by "Jonathon of JDMnet.org," so that ordinary users can edit their posts for only a fixed time
after posting. The time limit is currently set to 12 hours. This is so that users can still fix mistakes or give updates in the short term, but in the
long term they cannot alter what they've said. This feature has been added to preserve the character of threads and to prevent valuable
information from being deleted long after it was first posted, as once happened with xoo1246's posts.
Moderators/administrators can still edit, so put in a request explaining why your post really needs to be edited, if the 12 hour
limit has expired and you'd like a post changed.

Please extend the limit to 48 hours.
This will preserve valuable posts but give enough time to think some things over which were posted in the heat of the battle.
thanks

But maybe that's what we should preserve, what you wrote in the heat of a battle
Personally I think this 12 hr limit is a great idea, as it forces people to think about what they write the first time round!

I don't know if anyone notices this but if I solve my own problem I might decide to go to a long discarded post and edit it to tell anyone that
might find it the answer to the question posed in the thread, you know, not wanting to bring it up again, e.g. one of my posts in the boron trichloride thread, although I guess I can start a new topic.
Really though, I think it would be more reasonable to extend the post edit time to 24 hours due to the fact that some people only visit the form once
a day at the same time and therefore the only time they might reread a specific post and find erroneous information might be the next day when the
open it back up to read a new reply. But, I can live with it being 12 hours, I'm not going to go on strike or anything.

48 hours, I didnt come to this number by sucking it from my fingertips.
I could live with a week also, you know?

Polverone probably did not suck the 12 hours out of his fingertips either
Anyway, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and my previous just stated that.
Why the aggressive response?
Chill !
PS with regard to Bromic's Post, 24 hrs might be better indeed as many people do indeed check their posts only once a day.

chemoleo, this wasn´t aggressive what I wrote, I only expressed that I have a VERY dedicated opinion on this topic and also I support the feature as
is I see my personal deadline at 48 hours for several reasons I am not going to explain.

The 48 hour limit has been adopted. It seems that many people who visit here visit multiple times a day, but it is true that some do not visit that
often. I picked 12 hours because it offered enough time to "sleep on" and reconsider anything posted hastily. This I thought sufficient. But
48 hours is no skin off my back.
