Using US joints in conjunction with ISO joints
I moved to Europe from the US a few months ago and brought my lab gear (which was only a few flasks and other bits and pieces) with me but the joints
are all 24/40 and since I don't have any 24/40 jointware theres not much I can do with it. Since I went to the hassle of bring it with me I don't want
to just sell it so I'm trying to figure out how I can use it with my ISO glassware. Is it a must that I get adaptors or would I be able to connect
24/40 to 24/29 in any way?

A 24/40 is just a little bit longer than a 24/29, and will fit perfectly. In some cases the US joints may be a little too long, e.g. fitting a 24/40
male joint into a 19/26-24/29 expansion adapter might not work.
I use both US and ISO jointed glassware together.

I also just mix and match 24/40 with 24/29 I ended up buying 6 gas washing bottles from the UK and everything fits just fine.

Does it go both ways, i.e. will a male 24/29 joint fit into a female 24/40 joint as well as a male 24/40 fits into a female 24/29? I'm testing it out
right now and a male 24/29 joint seems to fit nicely into the female 24/40 joint but it might only be the widest parts of each joint that fit nicely
together. I'm planning on setting up a HCl gas bubbler at the moment so a leaky joint would be disasterous.
EDIT: Never mind, they go together fine. There is as much friction when I try to turn an ungreased 24/29 cone in a 24/40 socket as there is in a 24/29
socket.

The tapers are the same, with the exception of US one being 8 mm longer. They fit allright, but I'm not sure if Keck clips could hold them properly.
