Bonding with boron

To celebrate the International Year of Chemistry, Nature Chemistry is launching an essay competition based on the 'In Your Element' feature that appears on the last page of every issue of the journal.

We invite aspiring science writers to submit an 'In Your Element'-style essay on any one of the following elements — helium, nitrogen, sodium, copper, bromine, indium or plutonium.

For an example of an 'In Your Element' article, Bonding with boron is free to view online.

The winning essays will be published in Nature Chemistry and authors of the winning entries will also receive a year-long personal subscription (print and online) to the journal.

For further information, including eligibility and submission details, please visit the website.

The deadline to apply is 1 August 2011. We look forward to receiving your entry!

Hexameter—

Hexameter, the name of the earliest
and most important form of classical
verse in dactylic rhythm. The word is
due to each line containing six feet
or measures, the last of which must
be a spondee and penultimate a dactyl,
though occasionally, for some special
effect , a spondee may be allowed in
the fifth foot. The four other feet may
be either spondees or dactyls…..
The most usual places for the caesura
are at the middle of the third, or the
middle of the fourth root: the former
is known as the penthemimeral and
the latter as hepthemimeral caesura.
