how do you get these custom messages? do you make them yourselves or are they given by mods?

It is pretty rare. You have to do something notable enough that the moderators decide you deserve to be recognized. Or if you give dangerous advice
enough times, you will be given the rank "Hazard to Others (Literally)".

It usually is, but some people have
custom ones. It’s mostly for members who’ve been around for a long time, or done something stupid.
