I've seen something similar except with a graham coil in the center and a large RB flask attached with a miniature dean stark apparatus looking thing
blown into the side with a large opening. i asked some of the more experienced chemists on site and they had no idea what it was used for. things like
that are made for a real specific experiment and probably never used again. they have little practical use outside of that one experiment.
