What solvent can replace methanol in chemical reaction?
I want to make some chemical reaction where compounds is dissolved in methanol, but I don`t find methanol to buy and I ask you if can replace methanol
with ethanol or simply distilled water?
Or exist another substance can replace methanol solvent in chemical reaction?

I want to make lead styphnate and the reaction is between styphnic acid and lead monoxide.

I agree with ScienceSquirrel; methanol is readily avaalible if you look.
I'm not too familiar with styphnates and lead monoxide, but if methanol is neither a catalyst nor a participant in the reaction, then other solvents
would probably suffice (if styphnic acid and lead monoxide are appreciably soluble).

Can't find methanol? It's readily available over-the-counter virtually everywhere as HEET.

You can probably replace your methanol with paint store denatured ethanol though.

I would hazard a wild guess and say ethanol, propanol, isopropanol
I'll Bet that any of these would work but maybe not with the greatest efficiency, or maybe better
that said , methanol is cheaper and easier to find than any of the above except ethanol
