Use of Mohr's Salt in Ferroin Preparation
Hello everyone. I have a conundrum. I need to make ferroin, but while I have o-phenanthroline the ferrous sulfate I have is several years old.
However, I have newly bought ferrous ammonium sulfate, so can I use that for analytical purposes?

I mean, just mix the ferrous ammonium sulfate and o-phen solutions and you will get a solution of ferroin. I personally have never made it though, so
take my advice with a grain of salt.
There wasn't a fire, we just had an uncontrolled rapid oxidation event at the power plant.

Surely you can use it. Small amount of Fe(III) doesn't matter in ferroin indicator.
