Storing Bromine under Sulfuric Acid

I want to store bromine, but don't have ampoules or a lab fridge. I was thinking that storing bromine under sulfuric acid would keep the fumes down, since the lighter acid would float on top. This might keep the fumes down, making it much easier to store.

There wasn't a fire, we just had an uncontrolled rapid oxidation event at the power plant.

I think the practical effect of this is likely to be limited, as the bromine will be somewhat soluble in the acid, and Raoult's Law is in effect. If you can find a solvent in which Br2 is highly insoluble (????) that might be different. Dilute HCl is my best guess, actually.

Alternatively, store potassium bromate and azeotropic hydrobromic acid.
