What kind of flange is this? telling schott from something else.
So I've got this big old reaction vessel which was supposed to have a Schott flange, which I thought was a grooved flat flange.
However the flange isn't all flat.
It's got a 150 mm I.D., and the flange is about 20 mm with a groove, but the groove and the flat area around it if only about 8 mm wide, and the rest
of the flange is actually angled down away from the opening at a shallow angle.
So is anybody familiar with flanges like this?
Do these mate to a flat head or is there some other kind of head or gasket these are used with?

I would guess that some kind of gasket is to used with a surface like that.
Here is a pic of a universal gasket of QVF® SUPRA-Line made in PTFE, for all flange types.
