5-MEO-DMT struggle
Hi. First of all I want to make clear that my intend is not of manufacturing drugs, but knowledge.
I have been researching om the synthesis of this substance. And I wonder if there is a viable synthesis from 5-MEO-Tryptamine. I can't see any
research into this. Anyone?

I believe this qualifies as a spoon feeding request but im feeling generous.
The simplest way would be to deacetylate melanin and then dimethylate the resulting 5-methoxy-tryptamine.
A more complicated way would be to start with tylenol and carry out a williamson ether synthesis using methyl iodide to prepare
N-acetyl-p-methoxy-aniline. A lot of reports i read on the williamson reation with acetaminophen use sodium methoxide to deprotonate the amide and
prevent side reactions but this isn't consistent with all the write ups.
You would then need to carry out a fischer indole type reaction to prepare 5-methoxy indole which you could then react with oxalyl chloride and
dimethylamine or opt for a less conventional approach like the one discussed here.

i feel you man...ive been working on a theoretical (; 5-MeO-DMT synth for a long time. i think methylation of some OTC indole products will work, but
yields would be low due to poly methylated products, which would then have to be seperated, further reducing yield.
you could do the method alexander shulgin used in his book tihkal, but its not practical to just go around ordering schedule 1 substance precursers.
keep trying, and if nothing works, find out why and adapt your method and try again. repeat until it works.

Again though melatonin is pretty easy to acquire and base or acid catalyzed hydrolysis should be pretty straight forward.
To dimethylate i would recommend researching dimethylation of normal tryptomine which has been explored to death in the seedy undergrowth of the
internet.
Its not that complicated, just very involved.

i'll make it simple: Melatonin + NaOH -> 5-MeO-T + HCOOMe -> 5-MeO-T-Formamide + LAH + HCOOMe -> 5-MeO-DMT

legit just mix sleeping pills with NaOH like and go to your local funeral shop and buy some formaldehyde and go make some formic acid or buy some and
you done boiiii.

Standard eschweiler-clarke does not work due to the formic acid.
Just use NaBH4 and formaldehyde under proper cooling.
