Ru is by far the cheapest of the platinum group metals. This price seems low, but not entirely out of the question

plus it says ALLOY, alloyed with what and in what percentage it's not specified, it could be 90% or 10%, and givem the price, i think it's on the low
side

It does not say how much Ru is in the alloy or what the other elements are?
I am wg48 but not on my usual pc hence the temp handle.

Same thing with slightly different mass, but also mentioned it's 99.99%...

It's 99.99% powder, the remainder being not powder. So pretty pure powder.

Just checked the price for ya, Ru is currently $250 or GBP190/ozt. So that does sound suspicious to me, and I doubt it will be 99.99% Ru. If you do
want to buy it, proceed with caution and don't expect it to be 99.99% Ru. If it turns out really is, then congrats.

As it clearly says it´s an alloy (a mix), so it´s not pure Ru.
If interested to buy this one should ask the seller what alloy and the %.

then what do you do with an alloy? not much good as an element sample, not much good as an Ru source if it is loaded with some unknown contaminant
that may be difficult to remove...
not much good at all imo

Looks like RuO2 to me.
Most commercial Ru metal (sponge) is a light grey powder like the rest of them (barring osmium, that's blue).
Neither flask nor beaker.

I wasn't very interested in ruthenium, so I didn't bother much with this thread at the outset.
But I just looked at teh ebay link.
I have "dealt" with that seller before.
Sometimes I got what I paid for.
Sometimes I did not get what I paid for- the material was not "as described".
Proceed with caution + test before you give feedback.

With this seller you can have good look, but you also can have something completely different.
I have purchased quite a few interesting chemicals from him. To name a few:
- V2O5 --> very good quality material, dissolves completely clear in a solution of NaOH.
- MnO2 --> questionable stuff. Contains a lot of iron. Good enough for energetic thermite-like reactions, but not for anything else.
- NH4ReO4 --> the real thing! pure stuff. I obtained 160 grams for just GBP 40.
- Ru(OH)3 --> not Ru(OH)3, but hydrous RuO2. But it only contains Ru as a metal. A good buy, GBP 20 for 70 grams.
- MoO3 --> impure stuff, contains a lot of brown stuff, does not dissolve completely in solution of NaOH
- WO3 --> very good quality stuff, pure sulphur-yellow material.
- Re --> something completely different, the metal does not dissolve in any acid I have, while Re dissolves in HNO3. With the latter, I received a
refund.
