Silicon Carbide
I obtained 6Kg at 60mu for free as it was in the Uni dumpster and I was given the allclear etc. It has many uses, but learning about its potential
chemical reactivity has brought up numerous and current patents that I cannot easily access. I dare say it could be oxidised to SiO or converted to
SiCl2 or SiOCl and a million other arrangements. If any one knows of an interesting use or perhaps would want some. Send me postage and I will pass it
on.

Mix with about 30% fireclay and sinter at 1600C for ten hours.
I don't see it reacting with anything without that much heat, might as well use it for its refractoriness eh?

Perhaps there was a reason for where I found it ? Thought I would run it by others though. What is it-thats right. One mans junc is another mans
carbide - perhaps. I still might play around with it some time and explore its properties more to begin with.
