Cannot Post link info

franklyn - 16-12-2007 at 12:46

After spending near a half hour attempting to post a link here _
http://www.sciencemadness.org/talk/viewthread.php?tid=9218&a...

to download Bretherick's Handbook of Reactive Chemical Hazards
I had to give up. The link will not parse in any way and is in some
way altered even as text so that when it is copied this does not
access and return the pdf file from the source. I even attempted
to upload a txt file containing the link text, and the server returns
the following error _
" MySQL has encountered an unknown error. To find out the exact
problem, please set the DEBUG flag to true in config.php."

The post I make does appear but without the attachment.

I have yet to try excorcism but need to read up on necromancy first

Known problem with URLs with punctuation in them, it gets munged by the PHP and SQL processing.

The work-around is to use something like tinyURL to create a clean URL for posting.

Or try to zip the textfile containing the link and attach it to the post.
