In the first case, the answer is no, in the second the answer is perhaps, but it will be iffy.
It's the usual problem - you've got to cut through the oxide film on the Al. The problem is made worse by the fact that aluminium alkoxides fall apart
in water, driven by the hydrolysis to insoluble Al(OH)3. So, maybe if you used a minimal amount of strong tincture, and extra Al which ends up as
sludge. |
