You have to concentrate the HNO3 using concentrated sulfuric acid to hold back most of the water during distillation. Brainfever's idea seems to work <a href="http://www.geocities.com/brainfevert/hno3.html" target="_blank">here</a> and his main site page <a href="http://www.geocities.com/brainfevert/" target="_blank">here</a>. Again, exercise caution and please stop sounding like a k3wl. If you are, it's not my fault if you <a href="http://www.darwinawards.com/" target="_blank">blow yourself up</a>. The information I give is for informational purposes only and I do not encourage the manufacture or use of any explosives.

"informational purposes only?"

No silly disclaimers. If you need to tack a disclaimer on to what you're saying, you probably shouldn't be saying it anyway. "These blueprints of the estate of the governor of New Hampshire and accompanying instructions for manufacturing poisoned bullets are solely intended for the amusement of aspiring novelists."

RDX manufacture on commercial and lab scale is well documented, including the preparation of high concentration HNO3. End of thread.
