Heat to complex?

I am now working on the tranditional Baylis-Hillman reaction. most of the papers on this topic performed this reaction at room temperature, 0 degree or even more lower. however, few articles are reported at high temperature. it was said that when heating the mixture, though finished in a short time, the yield and the selectivity dropped considerably. so why could this happen, and do there exist some others methods besides at high pressure? thanks so much for reply.
