And to make a post that's a bit more on-topic for the thread, could NO and NO2, which are also generated from atmospheric electrical discharge, be
useful in sulfuric acid production? Perhaps they, being powerful oxidizers like ozone, could oxidize SO2 to SO3? And if the reaction between the gases
isnt fast enough at normal conditions, maybe heating the gases could get it to react. Otherwise, I wonder what would happen if you sent the gas
combination through another electrical discharge.
btw I intend to try some of these experiments in the future (if they're not too dangerous) and I'll post the results. |
