im deeply frustrated by this chemistry problem so ill just cut to it
3H2 + Au(NO3)3 + OH- >>> Au(NO2)3 + 3H2O
that should be right unless it forms nitrogen dioxide gas, dont bases dissociate completely? anyone know the half reactions for this? that'd be greatJdurg - 11-10-2006 at 17:38
You're reaction is not balanced as you have a charge of -1 on the left side and 0 on the right side. In addition to having the number of atoms
balanced, you also need to balance charge.guy - 11-10-2006 at 21:58
It will reduce Au3+ to Au metal.
2Au3+ 3H2 -------> Au + 6H+Dynamic_Equilibrium - 12-10-2006 at 21:38
