Ok, tried dissolving PET in NAOH solution.
Now sample alot cleaner.
Some dissolved, but not much, precipitated as acid, on addition of H+.
Would boiling PET in molten NaOH increase the yield?
It's melting point about the same as that of lead?
And where side branches of benzene will go in this scenario?

Can styrene be oxidized by KMnO4 to Benzoic acid?

What about ABS.
60 - 70 % of it is Styrene too.

PET-GF30FR(17) interesting polymer, very strong and heatproof.
