Diazonium salts

a nitrogen rich explosive - 30-4-2016 at 06:24

Does anyone have any information on any diazonium salts? This is for a plethora of reasons: I am interested in their energetic properties, but they are also important intermediaries in the synthesis such as compounds like 1,4-dinitrotetrazol-5-one.
This topic is very well covered by DubaiAmateurRocketry here:

The salt that I am particularly interested in at the moment is benzenediazonium nitrate, as benzenediazonium is known as an energetic anyway and the nitrate ion will only improve performance. Also, the diazonium nitrate salt of semi-carbazide might be interesting.

Maybe you could UTFSE

Ah, thanks. I didn't notice some of the things in here.

No mention of diazonium semi-carbazide perchlorate?

Just because you can think up a name for something doesn't mean it exists, and I would need to look into that one some other time when I have time. The range of technology covered here by discussions archived already traverse history from ancient to state of the art, and cover many obscure and hypothetical compounds that seem possible also, so you should probably search more before starting new threads.

Sorry about that Rosco.
But surely if NH2-CO-N3 exists, there must be a salt of such a compound?

That compound is carbamoyl azide and is described in linked post and elsewhere

I think it is a neutral compound and does not form salts

Look the way you are going about things is an invitation for somebody to take your hand and spoon feed you what you are too lazy to read and find is probably already here, so save everybody a lot of trouble, and seek and find ....there isn't much we have missed

guanylazide forms a perchlorate described in linked post here

H2N-NH-CO-NH2.HClO4 reacting with nitrites will make NaClO4 on one side and...taking as related molecule NH2-CO-NH2...
will destroy the -CO-NH2 part of the molecule into CO2, H2O and N2...while the other part will make gaseous HN3 (known process for making HN3 from hydrazides (R-CO-NH-NH2 or Ar-CO-NH-NH2).

Anyway, diazonium semi-carbazide isn't basic enough to form salts...
