Good Evening everyone, It has been awhile.
I do not quite understand what is going on in this reaction. When the hydrogen is bubbled into the solution, the Iodoform dissolves. the solutions
turns a dark yellow.
My only thought is that chlorine from the Hcl passed the drying phase of the set up and is chlorinating the solution.
And thoughts on what it may be? what I have ruled out is:
Isopropyl chloride... as do my knowledge, there is no way to activate the reaction. Without something like Zinc chloride.
So was the H2 Gas, maybe Cl gas reacting with the Idoform to create something I am fully unaware of?

Provide the experimental first. There are probably not many members with mind reading abilities that could give you an answer to that.
