Can anyone tell me if I understand how to make conductive SiC heater elements well enough to try?
I think I just need to bind some crushed SiC crystals with about 20% graphite by weight (per the original patent on carborundum), and sinter at 2000C.
The original patent states any glue that binds the material together will do. I found colloidal silica works amazing to that end (wood glue not so
great).
I guess the main items that I am not sure about are:
1. is that the right mix?
2. how long does it need to soak at 2000C for
3. any recommended binders?
Any clarification on the subject is immensely appreciated!
